Facilities available at Newport Indoor Bowls Centre
The recently refurbished playing surface is a blue "Dales"
carpet laid to international standards on a wooden floor.
There are 8 rinks and a recently installed electronic scoreboard.
Two rinks are reserved for the use of the public, and may be booked up to a week in advance.
Parking :
There is ample parking available at Newport Indoor Bowls centre.
Bowling :
The centre is open throughout the year and offers members both a summer season (May - August) and a winter season (September - April) of bowls. (Opening times)
The Centre is home to two clubs, Newport Indoor Bowls Club and Newport Ladies Indoor Bowls Club. Both clubs welcome new members.
Members can participate in events which range from friendly and competitive inter-club matches, internal leagues, and National competitions. Each morning, seven days a week, all rinks are available for practice or casual play (roll-ups) from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
Lounge :
The light and airy lounge has a viewing window overlooking the playing area.
Meals and light refreshments are available until lunchtime for members
and visitors and special parties may be catered for, but have to be booked in
advance.
Bar :
The bar is open every day throughout the evenings during the winter season.
Coaching :
If you are a new to the game of bowls you can hire special bowling shoes and bowls and enjoy a taster session on one of the public rinks; contact the steward for further details.(prices)
Coaching is available for beginners and inexperienced bowlers at the early morning practice sessions on Sundays or at other times by arrangement.
